We use EKGs to look into palpitations, skipped beats, dizziness, and other symptoms that might trace back to the heart. They’re also a routine part of many pre-operative clearances, when a surgeon wants confirmation that your heart is ready for a procedure. Because we do them in the office, there’s no cardiology referral needed just to get the basics checked.
Small sticky electrodes go on your chest, arms, and legs. You lie still for a few moments while the machine records. That’s it. Nothing invasive, and you can go straight back to your day. We read the results with you, and if anything warrants a cardiologist, we’ll set up the referral and share the tracing with them.
Not at all. The most you’ll feel is the stickers coming off.
Wear clothing that makes the chest easy to access, and skip lotion on your chest that day if you can. It helps the electrodes stick.
